Asbury's Vision and Core Values
On June 24, 2000, Asbury's VisionTeam created a vision statement to guide the 50-year-old congregation’s life for the next two to three decades:
Asbury is an inclusive community modeling Christ, encouraging spiritual growth and social justice, and serving as a catalyst and resource for all people.
It is consistent with our mission statement:
a place for all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ

Asbury Welcomes New Pastor

Rev. Stephen Govett was appointed pastor of Asbury effective July 1, 2011. Rev. Govett previously served as pastor of Light of Hope United Methodist Fellowship in Chandler, Mosaic UMF in Tucson, Faith UMC in Phoenix and associate pastor of First Tempe, UMC and North Scottsdale UMC. He is well known for his creativity and passion for initiating new ministries and his interest in youth, children and family ministries. Rev. Govett and his wife Kimber, are the parents of two teen-age daughters, Dakota and Kassidy. Kimber Govett also serves on Asbury's staff as the Director of Family Ministries.
A native of California, Rev. Govett grew up in the Phoenix area and graduated from Northern Arizona University and Perkins School of Theology in Dallas. In addition to ministry, he has worked in the non-profit sector in public relations and marketing.
